These are very easy plants as long as you keep the soil on the dry side (but at the same time, you need proper watering habits)! I do my best to teach people about my watering methods so let me elaborate more on this. Like all hoyas, these plants like to dry out well between watering.

Hoya linearis is a rare species of flowering plant in the genus Hoya, native to Nepal and China. This species is known for its distinctive foliage of cyndricial leaves.

How fast do Hoya linearis grow?

In nature, Hoya linearis tends to grow rapidly and wildly. As a houseplant, it maintains this fast growth rate and can grow up to 6.5 feet (2 metres) long in several years. This variety reaches maturity between two and three years, at which point it will begin to flower.

Hoya Linearis is a tender, pendent, epiphytic, succulent, evergreen perennial with slender, soft, green stems bearing linear, hairy, grooved leaves and lax clusters of fragrant, star-shaped, white flowers from late summer into autumn.

Since most hoya species grow in the wild as epiphytes, they don't have deep roots – which means they don't need deep pots. The best way to propagate Hoya is to take cuttings that have two nodes. A node is a place where the leaves emerge from the stem. Either place them in a vase with water or into a jar with moist sphagnum moss. Check on them every few weeks.

Should you water Hoyas from the bottom?

Also, I only water from the bottom. That way the Hoyas are fully watered, and will get nice deep roots. I give them enough water for their roots to soak up as much as they can in about 10 minutes, and dump out any water that's left afterwards.

Is Hoya Linearis the same as string of needles? Nope—they are not the same plant, although they do look extremely similar. Hoya Linearis is in the genus Hoya while Ceropegia Linearis, the scientific name for string of needles, is in the genus Ceropegia.
